Prato de Aparato "Pré-Aranhões" Paisagem com Gamo/ Large Plate, Lisboa, 1660-1680
A handsome large white glazed shallow plate of raised rim, dating from the first half of the 17th century. The cobalt-blue and manganese-purple decoration clearly inspired by Kraak porcelain examples dating from the Wanli period (1572–1620).
The centre delicately painted with an oriental-like landscape, with a deer resting by a fence, surrounded by exuberant exotic vegetation. The rim is divided into eight sections that alternate depictions of thorny branched fruits and ribbon coiled Artemisia leaves, interspersed with loops and suspended seals within vertical segments.
